"The Seven Day War" Oil Series & Book by Munch Completed
07/30/2007

The original painting series, "The Seven Day War," has been completed by William Munch.

The oil and water color series contains the seven days of the week -- starting with Sunday and ending with Saturday.

Three writers were invited to participate and analyze the paintings on their own terms.

No rules; no restrictions.

The end result is soon to be in your eyes and hands.

A very limited number of draft copies of the book have been self-published/printed. They are being distributed to collectors, media, and publishers.

The paintings are self-portraits/expressions. A journey into the mind/psyche, so to speak.

BIOS of the players.

William Munch, artist
grew up in Valley Stream on Long Island, New York, spending his summers in East Hampton – right around the corner from Jackson Pollock’s house/art studio in The Springs.

He started writing, drawing, and painting at a young age -- and has never stopped. One grandfather was a professional baseball player, the other, a musical conductor. Hence, a love for sports and the arts. Bill attended Maritime College at Fort Schuyler in the Bronx for three years as a Cadet, where he scored over 1,000 points on the basketball team, and was named ECAC Player of the week twice. At one point during his hoops days, he led the nation in scoring. At Maritime, he also sailed on a 500-foot plus training vessel to Portugal, Spain, England, the Canary Islands, and Montreal. With a yearning to discover life and being a bit of a rebel, Bill left Maritime and sailed the Gulf of Mexico for about a year as an Able-Bodied Seaman on offshore supply vessels.

With the money he earned sailing, he finished his college education at Plattsburgh University in upstate New York, where his writings were discovered by the head of the English department (Dr. Ann Tracy). She immediately convinced him to switch his major from business to English, which he gladly did – bringing myriad poems and other forms of writing into the light. Upon graduation, Bill answered advertisements for copywriting at an ad agency and journalism at a newspaper in Albany, New York. The advertising agency hired him first at minimum wage, and the rest is history. He fell in love with marketing -- where words and visual elements cohesively collide -- and after a few years in Albany, moved back to Long Island. His rebellious spirit continued, and instead of working as an employee, he founded an advertising agency: Donaudy Munch.

Bill helped grow the company into one of the largest in the region -- as creative director. His firm won hundreds and hundreds of awards for creativity. His clients included everything from D’Addario Guitar Strings to JP Morgan Chase to Wilson Golf Shoes. Bill has also founded other companies, one of which is Wireless Ink - a company that has changed the face of the mobile Internet, enabling the masses to rapidly build web sites and blogs for their mobile phones. With the future of the Internet being mobile, he is now an excited shareholder cheering from the sidelines.

Bill is a published poet and painter (“Homeless Mind”). He has been selling his artwork both commercially and privately since the late 1980s. He has taught Advertising Design Concepts at NYIT (New York Institute of Technology) as an adjunct professor. Bill is married to his wife of over a decade, Cat, and has two children: William Blake and Olivia Faith. At this time in life, he has dedicated himself to painting and writing, founding StudioMunch and has opened a gallery in South Tampa, on Henderson Blvd., next to the "Outback Steakhouse" -- the first one in the franchise.

Chris McGrath
obtained an unlimited third officer's license, any vessel, any ocean, and a B.S. in marine transportation upon graduation from the State University of New York Maritime College at Fort Schuyler in 1982. Mr. McGrath supplemented his knowledge by concentrating his studies in maritime and admiralty law while attending Tulane University School of Law, from which he received his law degree. After practicing maritime law at another Houston, Texas, law firm, Chris became a founding partner in Legge, Farrow, Kimmitt, McGrath & Brown, L.L.P., in 1996. He practices maritime law – and has published articles on various maritime topics such as casualty investigations, maintenance and cure claim handling and defense strategies.
